The latest version of the AK thread adapter has been designed to index on the muzzle of the barrel, rather than the rear sight base. This is to ensure best possible angular alignment of the muzzle device. It is important to clean any buildup on the muzzle before installing thread adapter to ensure that clean, surface-to-surface contact is made between the adapter and muzzle.
